Spring, 2010.    Rock the best styles from the past, brought into the present and future from West Coast Leather.    Color, shape, fit, drama, detail, bold luxurious materials and “clothing as wearable art.”   All of these components fit the statement pieces from the early North Beach Leather catalogs now featured on our website.*  West Coast Leather is excited to able to offer these same incredible pieces, only better than the original.   We are pleased to feature some of the best designs from the past keeping the integrity of the design with our new upgraded fit and unique attention to details.   The dynamic flair and explosion of color of the early leather days when combined with futuristic details like exposed zippers and exotic skin inlays is what we have envisioned for these same collections.

Using fabulous photographers like Herb Ritts, Victor Skrebneski and Phil Dickson, the North Beach catalogs are filled with early pictures of very famous models and celebrities of today.  Tatiana Patitz, Yasmine Ghauri,  Angie Everhart,  Marcus Schenkenberg, Cindy Crawford,  Christy Turlington,  Paulina Porizkova,  Rebecca Romijn,  Charlize Theron, Andie MacDowell and Stephanie Seymour just to name a few all modeled leather for the North Beach Leather catalogs.    The North Beach collections were based on a foundation of great jackets, a variety of styles for pants and dresses and the artistic addition of color block, lacing, rhinestones, metal studs and grommets.  North Beach Leather outfitted everyone from super tall athletes, famous models and actors, and of course all of our amazing customers.   San Francisco, like Los Angeles and New York, has always been one of the fashion meccas where new trends and ideas flourish.   Leather with exploding colors, innovative patterns and intricate detail hit the fashion market and leather style has never been the same.   The timing was that of the 1980’s through the mid 1990’s  -- lifestyles were evolving and being changed by the exciting music, culture and fashion of the time.   Leather continues to evolve today through the use of laser cutting, the incorporation of new fabrics and exotic elements with inlays, lacing, incorporation of jewelry and the ability to tailor leather like a second skin.   West Coast Leather continues to push the boundaries with leather, providing a custom fit and has the expertise and ability to create unique specialized wardrobe pieces that separates us from every other store carrying leather.   Having strong roots and history in San Francisco continues to shape our look and plans for the future.   Updating and rereleasing some of our early innovative designs is part of that quest.  West Coast Leather has taken all these elements and brings them into the present with a new refined fit, the combination of improved and exotic materials and as always our visions for the future of leather.
